Already as a child, Lonny Price showed acting predispositions and a desire to perform on stage. After graduating from high school, he enrolled at the Juilliard School, a private performing arts conservatory, where he developed his skills and gained knowledge. Just after a year of education, he was ready to start his professional career.

Initially, he appeared mainly in off-Broadway productions. He made his debut in 1979 in “Class Enemy”, for which he received the Theathe World Award. In the following years, he played in many different plays, including: the musical “The Merry Roll On” or “Master Harold and the Boys”. He first appeared on screen in 1981 with an episode in the drama “The Chosen”. He then starred in the family comedy “The Muppets Take Broadway.”
His breakthrough was supposed to be the role of the wise-cracking Neil Kellerman in , in which he starred alongside Jennifer Gray. Although he only appeared in the film for a few minutes, he managed to become remembered by many viewers. However, he already had a different plan for his life. After several more productions, he officially ended his acting career to pursue his career on the other side of the camera.

He made his debut in 1989, creating two musicals for which he was nominated for the Outer Critics Circle Award. Then, for several years, he served as deputy artistic director of the American Jewis Theater and became director of Musical Theater Works. Later, he devoted himself fully to creating television productions, directing, among others, American “One Life to Live” for ABC, winning an Emmy, as well as several episodes of “Desperate Housewives.” Ultimately, he decided to focus on creating plays on Broadway. During this time, among others, hit musical “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street”.
On March 9, 2023, Lonny Price celebrated his 64th birthday. He is still professionally active and has no intention of slowing down. However, he avoids the spotlight and protects his private life. His directorial achievements include many musicals, plays and soap operas, but undoubtedly the documentary that deserves the most attention is:
“The Best Worst Thing That Ever Happened”, which was one of the best of 2016 according to The New York Times. Few know that he is also a successful screenwriter, working mainly in the theater.
