All news television stations in the world do them and it’s really hard to imagine a news channel without them. Information bars at the bottom of the screen are now an inseparable element of television and in many homes they have even “burnt” pixels on the monitor. However, the old “Wiadomości” became famous for a less than glorious reason.
In recent years, entire analyzes of “strips” have been created, which clearly indicate that only 25 percent of them have an informational dimension. The rest were stilted, disgusted and dehumanized, imposing the only correct worldview. What will it look like now that the authorities at TVP Info have changed?
What fate awaits the “horror strips” on TVP Info and “19:30”?
“News” has already turned into “7:30 p.m.” They have been convincing old and new viewers for over a week. We know what is not there – and will not be there, as announced by Grzegorz Sajór, director of TAI TVP, who replaced Michał Adamczyk in this position. Onet talked to the new head of the Television Information Agency. There were also declarations regarding the famous stripes:
There are no such beams in the “19:30” program. I see a lot of people on social media saying “oh I’m glad those scary stripes are gone.” And they won’t be in this program – concluded Sajór.
However, “19:30” is only half an hour of air time for the TVP news program. What about TVP Info, broadcasting in real time from morning to late at night? The matter is not that simple here – information bars are already a standard element of this type of programs. There is no chance of them disappearing:
(In TVP Info – editor’s note) they will appear over time. (…) The information on the beam can be important. (…) What has been done to these beams over these eight years is simply terrible. It often didn’t matter what the presenter sitting in the studio said. Everyone paid attention to these inscriptions, says Grzegorz Sajór.
Therefore, there is hope for the return of good practices of neutral and unemotional news strips to TVP and TVP Info. .
“Paskowy” from TVP Info received orders “from above”
Even before the change of authorities at TVP, Polskie Radio and PAP, Wirtualna Polska had the opportunity to talk to a certain “strip” – Bartosz Gonzalez, who was responsible for creating inscriptions on strips and beams at TVP Info. The man left his job before management changed. He claims that he received instructions for the famous horror strips from above.
Pereira sent orders and messages via text message, leaving evidence of his actions. No other director did this. Orders were usually passed verbally over an extension phone on the desk, Gonzalez said. – Sometimes we received a set of beams assigned to a specific topic, which were supposed to appear alternately. This was the case, for example, with the women’s strike.
