Will former TVP employees find employment at Polsat? Bright station position

The laws of the free market are inexorable, as former employees of Telewizja Polska have been finding out in recent weeks. However, those who were counting on employment at Polsat must take it in stride. “I am interested in cooperation only with journalists,” said Piotr Witwicki, head of the station’s journalism department.

The media market is far from cucumber season. A number of changes at TVP obviously affected its former employees, who counted on short memories among decision-makers at Polsat. Although the ranks of the commercial station have been reduced by the departure of Małgorzata Nowicka-Aftowicz and Jarosław Kret, it does not look like the former public television staff will find a safe haven there. More information about the situation in the Polish media can be found on the home page.

It turns out that the first signals of employees’ willingness to replace public television with Polsat took place the day after the parliamentary elections (October 16). Some time ago, the portal virtualmedia.pl reached a former TVP employee who was trying to find a job at Polsat. However, she revealed anonymously that there was no conversation because her application was not even considered.

And the number of vacancies in right-wing media is not unlimited, not to mention funds. Moreover, anonymous testimonies of journalists from Zygmunt Solorz-Żak’s “stable” revealed that no one was willing to cooperate with “fugitives from a sinking ship”. To put it simply, despite vacancies, they have nothing to look for here.

Bright station position. Only journalists

The wp.pl portal asked the new head of Polsat’s journalistic department, Piotr Witwicki, to comment on this matter. “I will not comment on any personnel decisions” – he announced, but at the same time added something significant: – “I can only say that I am interested in cooperation only with journalists“Therefore, Polsat’s position is clear and fits into the industry code, which does not treat people working and cooperating with the former TVP as journalists. They are only “employees” or even “officers”.

After the fat years came the lean ones. “Be like Holecka”

Such a decision is not surprising, because each change of power was reflected in the staff of the commercial station. Polsat does not intend to use the services of those who biased Telewizja Polska. Thus, they are left with TV Republika and right-wing magazines, which without generous donations from State Treasury companies will certainly not provide them with such a lavish lifestyle as before.

And like Danuta Holecka, it was necessary to leave TVP in silence, before the “storm” broke out. Interestingly, the decision of one of the main faces of the so-called Karolina Korwin-Piotrowska praised the good change, giving an example to former propagandists of how to say goodbye to a public station with class.
