Tomasz Oświęciński accused of tax fraud
The case is serious because the maximum penalty that the actor can face is up to eight years in prison. According to the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw in an interview with “Super Express”, the investigation has already been carried out and ended with an indictment:
The suspect was accused of committing two acts – using false invoices and exposing the income tax to a reduction by overstating the costs of income in the submitted declaration – the spokeswoman of the prosecutor’s office, Aleksandra Skrzyniarz, told “Super Express”.
Oświęciński pleads not guilty and allowed the image to be published. The actor briefly summarized what happened at that time:
I trusted the wrong person and now I’m suffering the consequences. I am not avoiding responsibility, I will go to court and prove my innocence and clear my good name – he said in an interview with “SE”.
The charges against Tomasz Oświęciński are the result of several years of investigation. The actor was allegedly one of the people involved in the case of an event agency that issued invoices for fictitious services. In this way, up to PLN 15 million was “earned”. According to information from Radio ZET from 2019, Oświatiński was to receive one of such fraudulent invoices for PLN 300,000 – it was related to a contract with the KSW martial arts federation.
The actor is currently preparing for his next MMA fight. He was sentenced to two years in prison in 1999 for participating in an organized criminal group.
