Despite his enormous popularity, his career was not a priority. In numerous interviews, she emphasized that the most important role for her is the one in life – the role of a mother. With her long-time husband, Zbigniew Dziduch, she had two sons, Franciszek and Ryszard, who were born in 2000 and 2002. For some time, the actress tried to reconcile motherhood with professional duties, but it was not easy. She felt that she was wasting precious moments. – I wasn’t actually at home. I admit that I feel a little poorer for not remembering Rysiek at 5 or 9 months later. Only a family drama made her completely reevaluate her life.

Unexpectedly, in 2003, the actress disappeared from the screens and completely withdrew from public life. Many thought that she decided to suspend her career to focus on her family, but she herself did not comment on the matter. It was only years later that it turned out that doctors had diagnosed her one-year-old son with low-grade sarcoma at the base of the skull. The disease was already in an advanced stage, so the prognosis was not optimistic. Gorzelak decided that she would do everything to fight for the child’s health. Ryszard went through, among others: two major surgeries, several dozen cycles of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. The treatment lasted less than 2 years and was associated with enormous pain and suffering. However, the determination brought the intended results, because the boy was finally cured.
Despite the improvement in her situation, Gorzelak never decided to fully return to her profession. – He is an example of a child who had a 1% chance of survival. This will never be a closed topic – in “Dzień Dobry TVN”. – The fact that my Rysio is healthy today is truly a miracle. I believe there was divine help in this. Because Rysiek’s chances of survival were very slim. And there were several moments when he really could have left – she said in an interview with the portal. In 2005, she founded the “Our Children” foundation at the Oncology Clinic of the “Pomnik – Children’s Health Center” Institute to support families who face similar challenges. In 2012, her third child, Zosia, was born, and since then she has rarely appeared on screen. Recently she appeared in “Leśniczówka” and a short episode in the series “Tatuśkowie”.
