She was supposed to be an actress, but she became a presenter. Loska was a TVP star for over 20 years

For over two decades she was a star of Polish Television. She was promoted by accident, replacing a sick announcer on the show. Viewers immediately fell in love with her for her characteristic hairstyle, beautiful voice and wide smile. Loska climbed the ladder of her television career, but in 1994 she was unexpectedly fired. She learned about her superiors’ plans from the gossip she heard in the corridor.

Krystyna Loska never hid the fact that she became a presenter by accident. Previously, she dreamed of an acting career, but she was not particularly keen on cinema and theater. Although she passed the exam for the Krakow State Theater School with flying colors, she resigned from her studies in her second year. Shortly afterwards, her daughter Grażyna was born. Many years later, following in her mother’s footsteps, she also appeared on the screen as a television personality.

When Loska became a mother, she faced a serious dilemma: she could finish her studies or raise her daughter. She decided that it would be best to stay at home, although, as she admitted many years later, her relatives, especially her father, had never seen her as an actress. “Dad looked at me one day and said: You know what, I don’t see you on this stage, but I can see you in this box!” – Loska admitted in Aleksandra Szkarłat’s publication “Prezenterki. Tele PRL”.

In the early 1970s, Krystyna Loska, her husband and daughter moved from Katowice to Warsaw. She gained her first journalistic experience while working on the radio, and later got a job at . She started by reading dialogue lists, but one day she was asked to replace a sick announcer. Loska sat in front of the cameras and immediately announced the entire program from memory. After her television debut, the TVP editorial office began to receive words of praise for the new presenter. “The television received many letters with positive opinions about me. I was offered another entry. So I stayed,” Loska said.

Krystyna Loska worked at Polish Television for over two decades. It survived both the period of political changes in the country and 14 subsequent presidents of TVP. She heard about the dismissal by accident from people talking in the corridor. “Decisions were made about specific people, and these people were treated as useless objects. The corridors were then swarming with young people who gave the impression that they had lost all their minds, that they knew everything from A to Z. But they knew nothing,” said the presenter. After leaving Telewizja Polska, she worked on stage for the next few years.
