40-year-old Mark Forster is a German singer of Polish origin and songwriter, winner of the Bundesvision Song Contest 2015. Although he was born and grew up in Germany – in Winnweiler in Rhineland-Palatinate, his mother is a Pole from Warsaw. From his family home, Forster acquired, among others: ability to speak Polish.

The singer has released six studio albums, the last of which is entitled “Supervision” was released this fall. In addition to releasing new music, the artist is also a well-known media personality in Germany. In 2017, he replaced Andreas Bourani as a juror in “The Voice of Germany” and served in this role until the 12th season of the show.
Mark Forster did not sing in Polish in public for a long time. This changed in December 2017, when he sang the carol “Lulajże Jezuniu” during the Christmas concert “Sing mein Song – Das Weihnachtskonzert” on VOX television. This is a program in which the invited musicians were to perform their favorite Christmas song.
The artist sang in pure Polish, which was admired mainly by Polish Internet users, but his performance also delighted Germans. It was so emotional that it also touched all the stars gathered in the program, who did not understand the words of the carol at all. It was, among others, Eurovision winner Lena Meyer-Landrut and rapper Moses Pelham.
Since then, Mark Forster has released only one song sung in Polish. This is a song from 2018 called “Like A Lion”, which he recorded in two language versions with the most famous European reggae artist – Gentleman. Although the song went unnoticed in our country, it is worth appreciating the artist’s gesture towards the Polish audience, which had not often had the opportunity to hear the singer singing in our language before.
