Wojciech Mann on the TVP revolution: The joke of the year, if not the eighth anniversary. He also has advice for the new authorities

Wojciech Mann has been associated with public media for years. Now, after eight years of PiS rule, the revolution in TVP is taking place, the journalist commented on the famous events.

A revolution in public media is underway. On December 20, the TVP Info news service interrupted broadcasting, “Teleexpress” was not broadcast, and instead of “Wiadomości”, Marek Czyż appeared, announcing major changes in Telewizja Polska.

Wojciech Mann on the revolution on TVP: This is total absurdity

The situation in Woronicza was commented by, among others, Wojciech Mann, who has been associated with public media for years. The journalist worked at Radio Trójka and also hosted the popular program “Szansa na Nasze” – he disappeared from both places during the term of office of Law and Justice.

“I’m watching this with round eyes in amazement. I’m curious how this fight will end,” Manna is quoted by Onet. “What is happening is completely absurd. What those on the right are shouting about ‘free media’ is the joke of the year, if not the eighth,” notes the journalist.

Mann has advice for the new TVP authorities: The most important thing is not to resort to “stupid solutions”

“It’s hard to evaluate all this in normal terms. It’s some kind of despair or following the orders of one madman from the right,” says Mann, but he also does not have 100% trust in the new government. He emphasizes that the most important thing is not to stick to the “stupid solutions” used by PiS.

“If they manage to maintain a state of equilibrium, it will be perfect. Just like in the laws of physics, fluids eventually reach a certain level after being tilted one way or the other,” he added. When asked whether Mann planned to help rebuild Telewizja Polska, he diplomatically denied it. He noted that if he were younger, he would probably think about it, but today he knows what a difficult task awaits everyone who plans to make such a repair.

“On TVP, politics was not the most important thing for the average viewer. Especially since we, I am talking about the older generation, took over the training of skipping communist propaganda. And we managed to do it well. In recent years, public television has been a job with a dull saw and a hammer,” says the journalist . He also adds that the new authorities will also face the challenge of holding accountable employees who have been creating propaganda content on TVP for recent years.
