For several weeks, there has been talk of imminent changes in Telewizja Polska, and these, as indicated by the actions taken by the station, are slowly coming to fruition. First, the head of “Wiadomości” said goodbye to her job, and now she is said to share the same fate. However, personnel changes are only the beginning of a real revolution, as another controversial decision was made, this time regarding the program offer.
The hit program disappears from the TVP schedule. It has been broadcast for nearly 30 years
It turns out that TVP decided to cancel the intervention “Whoever saw, whoever knows” (available on ), which debuted on the air in 1996. The production was of an aid nature, and the activities undertaken as part of its implementation were free of charge for the participants. Each episode presented 4 to 6 disappearance cases that took place in Poland over the last decades. The presenters analyzed the collected evidence and witnesses’ statements, presented fragments of reports and interviewed the relatives of the wanted persons. Publicizing the cases usually brought results, and the studio was contacted by people who had information important to the investigation, which ultimately made it possible to learn the truth. But now this will no longer be possible.
This is the end of “Whoever Sees, Whoever Knows.” The creators talk about the reasons
An official statement appeared on the program’s official Facebook profile, which shows that the episode, which will debut on December 30, 2023, will be the last one for now. Why?
We have received information that, for reasons beyond our editorial control, Telewizja Polska does not plan to further finance our activities in 2024. As a result of this decision, from January we will not be able to help, as we have been doing for 27 years
– said the creators of the “Whoever Knows, Anyone Knows” format. At the same time, it was emphasized that during this time they managed to help many families who, thanks to the program, were able to find out what happened to their loved ones and what fate befell them. However, there was no hiding the bitterness at this sudden and unexpected decision.
The decision that has been made not only ties our hands regarding further actions, but is incomprehensible and devastating to us. We still believe that there is still room on Public Television for programs that provide real help
– emphasized. The comments that appeared under the entry indicate that not only the magazine’s authors are disappointed with this fact. Some viewers thanked the producers for their unquestionable influence on solving many crime mysteries, while others expressed their willingness to create a petition to stop the station’s activities.
