In the scene, William and Diana sell copies of the “Big Issue”, a charity magazine for the homeless. Carol encourages her daughter Kate to buy the prince a copy.

Although it was a nice meeting, it never happened. Some scenes are the result of creative license that the creators used to tell the life of one of the most famous royal families in the world in a more attractive way.

In addition, the Princess of Wales herself has stated on several occasions that she has never met her mother-in-law in person, reports People magazine.

How did William and Kate really meet?

Despite what was revealed in the series, William and Kate met in 2001 at university, four years after Diana’s tragic death in 1997 in a car accident in Paris. The two had been friends for more than a year before starting their romance.

But what the show doesn’t reveal is that Kate already met Princes William and Harry before entering university, according to biographer Katie Nicholl. She interviewed Kate’s former schoolmates, who confirmed that she had met the brothers, the Huffington Post reports.

Did Carole Middleton force William and Kate’s romance?

Another aspect that is exposed in the series is Kate’s mother’s insistence that she win the prince.

Although there is no evidence to prove that everything happened as depicted in the Netflix production, some tabloids and royal chroniclers revealed that Carole Middleton did indeed insist that her daughter take an interest in Prince William.

Netflix premieres the final chapters of the sixth season of The Crown: Why will the romance of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle not appear in the series?

“Endgame”, the controversial book by Omid Scobie, cited by the portal Informalia, points out that Carole imagined Kate as a person with a realistic perspective and the ability to raise the family’s prestige with her surname.

Additionally, the same aforementioned author points out that a family friend confirmed that in 2009, Kate’s mother pressured William to get engaged to her daughter, which happened a year later when they officially announced their plans to marry.

With the pressure or not, the truth is that after 12 years of marriage and three children, William and Kate are one of the most stable couples in the monarchy. (AND)
