Life in Poland is not easy for people with disabilities and their loved ones. Some people need regular help with even the simplest household chores. They won’t be able to dress themselves, prepare food, eat or go for a walk. And those who could and would be happy to try their hand at public space unfortunately cannotbecause no one takes into account what problems they may have and what may become obstacles for them.

Shopping in a store becomes an insurmountable obstacle for people with disabilities
The author of the account called @Wnettrza posted an appeal on her Facebook, not only to Internet users, but above all to store owners. While shopping in one of the supermarkets, the woman had the opportunity to observe the problems that people with disabilities struggle with. In the women’s opinion, the space is not at all adapted to their needs. Seeing how difficult it is for a certain gentleman to shop, she decided to record his visit to the store. A man in a wheelchair had no chance to do normal shopping. On a daily basis, he is quite independent, but unfortunately a simple visit to the store becomes something he cannot overcome.
People who design spaces lack imagination, and shop customers lack ordinary human empathy
People designing space in shops and supermarkets do not take into account how much space is needed for people in wheelchairs. In some places, including this store, the aisles are somewhat normal, but in most places this is not the case. The number of cardboard shelves with various products makes it impossible to walk through. Not only this gentleman has problems with moving in such stores, but also people who use crutches, walkers, pregnant women and women with strollers will also have problems. There were extreme opinions in the comments. Some understand store owners who want to make the most of their space. Many people, however, admit that the lack of imagination of people designing spaces means that more and more people have problems with simple, short purchases. Even store customers themselves are becoming a problem, as they ignore people who are in trouble. And sometimes simple human empathy would be enough.
