The players of a rugby team They were flying from Uruguay to Chile when their plane crashed in the middle of the Andes. It was the year 1972. Several died on the spot and in the following days because of the injuries. Two of the survivors, Fernando Parrado and Roberto Canessa, decided to go in search of help.

They walked for ten days and crossed the Andes Mountains. This story would end up being known worldwide as the tragedy of the Andes. Film director Juan Antonio Bayona has adapted the novel of the same name, written 40 years later, into a film that premieres this Friday.

Bayona leaves the epic aside to focus on the reflections of the survivors. One of them, Eduardo Strauch, assures that Bayona’s film is so accurate that it has made him remember the events he experienced “at 80%.” The director recalls, in statements to laSexta, that “although it may seem very hard, it is a story about friendship, generosity, and about finding the light in the darkest place.”

A story whose outcome seemed too unlikely…Although, sometimes, as the director remembers, the impossible happens. You can obtain more information by consulting the video located above these lines.
