Luz del Sur reached an agreement with the investment fund Sigma FI for the purchase of the Tres Hermanas and Marcona wind energy parks, located in the district of Marcona, in the department of Ica.
The amount of the transaction amounts to US$170 million and its closing is subject, among other transfer operations according to law, to the prior approval of Indecopi.
Combined, Tres Hermanas and Marcona have an installed capacity of 129 MW and deliver their energy to the National Interconnected System (SEIN). Recently, Luz del Sur also acquired two solar energy plants in Arequipa: Majes and Repartimiento.
“With the purchase of these assets, Luz del Sur continues with its commitment to promoting energy projects that come from natural sources in our country,” the company said.
Tres Hermanas and Marcona have 44 wind turbines that produce more than 700 GWh per year, enough to avoid the annual emission of more than 140,000 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere.
“We fulfill our commitment to execute our portfolio of projects and continue promoting care for the environment with renewable energy. At Luz del Sur we are very proud to be able to continue investing in the country and with this we demonstrate that we fulfill what we say,” said Mario Gonzáles, General Manager.
