Christmas stories and songs at San José La Salle school

Choral Academy organizes the first edition of this concert that will be on Wednesday 15 at 7:00 p.m.

This Wednesday, December 15, Choral Academy ESGTogether with several invited choirs, he presents the concert ‘Christmas Stories and Songs’, which will also be his first performance as a singing academy.

It is a show of 85 minutes focused on traditional and contemporary Christmas carols, to be performed in the chapel of the San José La Salle school (Tomás Martínez 501 and Baquerizo Moreno), at 7:00 p.m.

In addition to the Choral Academy groups, the Callas Choir, the María Callas Student Vocal Ensemble and the Juan Pueblo Municipal Children’s Choir.

The director of the academy, Enrique Silva Gil, indicates that they offer a musical program at various levels, focused on the development and promotion of the singing Coral. They also have a scholarship program, and events such as the concert this Wednesday are aimed at feeding that fund.

Silva, master in choral conducting, comments that in the pandemic Groups like yours have been semi-isolated, “and getting together to sing something for peace and for Christmas is unique.”

On this occasion, the members of the choirs they will be presented with a mask, although Silva admits that this is “a barrier between the emission of natural sound and the public; teaching children (vocal technique, breathing) with their faces covered is difficult, but they are happy to continue singing. It’s uncomfortable, but the fact of making music together can make us even more comfortable ”.

Choral Academy has about 70 students from 5 to 17 years old, divided into three choirs: the preparatory, the infantile (Niños Cantores) and the juvenile (Schola Cantorum). Karla Falconí and Jatniel Santos are teachers along with Silva. There is also a team of guitar and piano teachers.

“The last concert I conducted was in January or February 2020. It is the first time in person since the pandemic began,” says Silva, who this year held the first International Festival of Children’s and Youth Choirs Voz de Voz.
