For many years, Izabela Janiszewska worked as a press and television journalist for respected stations and magazines, where she prepared reports, psychological texts and interviews. Today, she is the author of “Scream”, “Hysteria” and “Amok” – a best-selling trilogy, as well as, among others, thrillers “Unforgivable” and “The Apartment” appreciated by readers. Her latest book titled “In the Claws” is – as the writer says – a dramatic thriller.
How many times does Izabela Janiszewska read her novels before sending them to the printing house?
In the conversation with Izabela Janiszewska, which can be listened to on streaming services and Publio in the form of the podcast “Dobrze czyta, dobrze listen”, we talk, among others, about: about her creative process, whether she smuggles much of her life onto the pages of books, and also about the fact that sometimes – as in the case of one of the characters in “In the Claws” – ultimately important characters only appear in her imagination at some stage of work on the story.
The writer also revealed that she no longer reads her books after publication, because she usually does it six times before submitting them for printing! – Even when a book comes to me from the printing house, in a box, I never read it again because I am very afraid that I will find errors that I will not be able to correct. And it’s also the case that before this book goes to print, I read it at least six times, and I’m already a bit fed up with this story. I don’t necessarily want to delve into it anymore, he says.
Six of her seven books are read by Filip Kosior. He once managed to draw her into her own story
She also told an interesting story about how, during a meeting with friends, she didn’t recognize her own novel for a long time:
Somewhere during the third stage of my book, during a meeting, one of my friends turned on a fragment of one of the volumes of the trilogy read by Filip Kosior and it was a fragment in which the names of the characters were not mentioned. When I heard this, I didn’t realize from the beginning that it was my book. I started to get absorbed and listen, and suddenly the heroine’s name came up. And then I think: “Oh my, this is my book!” Then I said something like: “Bastard, he does it so well that even I got carried away by my own book and didn’t immediately realize that it was mine.”
The author admits that she loves paper editions that can be placed on a shelf, but she is also a big fan of audiobooks. If you want to find out in what circumstances she reads them most often, and also see how much she tells us about the novel she is currently working on, listen to or watch the entire conversation with Izabela Janiszewska.
