The judge concluded that the newspaper had committed “extensive” wiretapping of celebrities between 2006 and 2011although there was an ongoing public inquiry into the conduct of the British press.
In addition, it was learned that newspaper editors, the legal department and other executives of MGN were aware of this practice.
“Today’s punishment vindicates me and gives me confidence“, said, on behalf of the Duke of Sussex, his lawyer David Sherborne, in a very fierce statement against the behavior of the media towards a member of the royal family.

The compensation that Enrique must receive is £140,600, about 180,000 dollars. The editorial office of MGN has already accepted its guilt and assured that it will honor the payment.
