The end of “The Crown”! Dominik West reveals what the last scene shot was like

The end of “The Crown” is undoubtedly the end of an era. The series can be watched on Netflix as a complete package from Friday, along with the last episodes. Dominic West – Prince Charles – tells how the work on the set ended.

“” has been with viewers on the platform since 2016. The series received a real shower of awards – if you believe Wikipedia, it received over 400 nominations in various competitions around the world, and won 129 of them. BAFTA for Vanessa Kirby, costume awards from the Costume Designers Guild, five Critics’ Choice Television Awards wins (for now, we’re still waiting for the verdict on the final season), numerous Golden Globes, EMMYs, SAG Awards… It’s one of the most award-winning Netflix series and one of the must-haves for fans of the British royal family.

“The Crown”. What was the last scene shot?

All good things come to an end. On December 14, 2023, the last episodes of the last sixth season were shown to viewers. Thus, “The Crown” has become complete. Dominic West, playing the role of Prince (now King) Charles, told us what scene the filming ended with. It is completely different than the one you can see in the series from Thursday.

The last scene in “The Crown” is extremely touching and brings together all the “queens” we have met in the series. But filming ended, as often happens, at a different point in the story. Dominic West shared the details:

“The Crown” was also filmed after the Queen’s death

The series was created over the last two years. Therefore, the production did not miss the death of the main character herself – Queen Elizabeth II. Imelda Staunton, who played her in the fifth and sixth seasons, happened to be on vacation at the time, but when she returned from it, the atmosphere on the set was different.

People already looked at me in a different way when I was “she”, said the actress in an interview with the BBC. – This role made it easier for me to understand why so many people wanted to say goodbye to her when she died. Her whole life was a duty. I think it was people’s way of saying to her, “You’ve been at work every day of your life, you’ve never made excuses. Thank you for that.”

The series “The Crown” has six seasons and sixty episodes. Three actresses became Queen Elizabeth – Claire Foy, Olivia Colman and Imelda Staunton. In the series you can see a slightly embellished, but mostly based on facts, history of the modern British royal family – from 1947 to 2005.
