From today until Sunday, Basque culture will have a “living space to dream” in the 58th edition of Durangoko Azokaavailable to all people who want to enjoy the fantasy of creativity. The doors of Landako Gunea will open at 10:30and at 12:00 it will be officially inaugurated in Szenatokia, at the San Agustín cultural center.

Within Landako, the offer of books, records and other cultural creations will be very rich. There will be 170 participants spread across 257 exhibitors; of them, several at the special self-producers stand. As for this year’s harvest, they will show 950 news: 689 books, 179 records or musical products, 44 magazines and 40 other productions. As a novelty, the work of the artists will be shown live on the screens.

This year’s program will be “diverse, young and full of fantasy“, as Beñat Gaztelurrutia, coordinator of Gerediaga, said in the presentation. In fact, the day of December 8 will be dedicated to young people, with the second edition of Gazte Eztanda.

This year there will be no online sales, because we will fully focus on the in-person fair.

Programming by spaces

-Talaia: In this space located in Landako Gunea itself, 48 events will be organized on December 8, 9 and 10. Aranzadi will present a book about the hand of Irulegi; Jakin will organize a round table on the thought of Joxe Azurmendi; Joseba Sarrionandia will explain the work 101 Letrakartel by Markos Gimeno; All Euskadi Literature winners will participate in two gatherings…

-Durango Museum: The author of the poster, Ximon Agirre, will give a talk organized by the Association of Basque Illustrators. The Suargi association will organize the international meeting “Purple Meridians, women filmmakers, disability and care”, in which, among others, Estibaliz Urresola, Itziar Ituño and the young Durangarra Ainhoa ​​Olaso will participate. You can also see a special exhibition during the fair days: the collection titled Mump ardatz, by Agustín Ibarrola. The one in Durango will be Ibarrola’s first posthumous exhibition and you will be able to see the work carried out in recent years.

-Ahotsenea: It will collect the presentations of 70 books and 50 new albums published in 2023. It will be a varied program in terms of styles and generations. In the live shows (Plateruena) electronic, folk, pop, hardcore, indie and rock songs will be shown. Among the musicians, NogenKnock, LovingEire, Ibil Bedi, Txopet, and Muare, for example. In the talks (Music School) novels, poetry, theater collections, essays and illustrated albums will be presented. -Saguganbara: Once again this year, presentations and shows aimed at children and families will be organized for five days, and during the times when there will be no activities,
Saguganbara will be a quiet and pleasant space for free reading. To detail some events: the book presentations of Yolanda Arrieta and Pello Añorga, Potx eta
Lotx or Jan Kantak. They will be days full of fantasy. On the other hand, the winner of the Creation Scholarship This year’s event will be unveiled in Saguganbara on December 9.

-Szenatokia: A special magic will be formed in the room (San Agustin), as artists from multiple disciplines will participate. Theatre, dance, monologues, improvisation… 10 companies will perform short pieces of their works, in two performances each. It should be noted that on December 8, Jon Ander Urresti will present the result of last year’s Creation Grant, a play titled Eucalyptus. He will act alongside Beñat Urrutia, and Matxalen de Pedro will also be directing.

Public transport

It should also be noted that the free bus service It will be operational from the parking lots at the Iurreta highway exit to Ollería Street in the Landako area, every 30 minutes. But, on Sunday, December 10, the service will not be available. That same day the doors of Landako will close at 6:00 p.m., two hours earlier than the rest of the days. However, the space program will continue until nightfall.
