The hottest cinema premiere of this year? We will watch the Sejm proceedings in Kinoteka

Interest in the Sejm proceedings has never been so great, so the time has come to conquer the “big screen”. It turns out that on December 11 we will see them at the Kinoteka in Warsaw. There are so many interested viewers that we may have regular screenings.

It turned out that the October interest in the elections was not a one-off civic “outburst”. Polish society has become interested in national politics like never before, and Szymon Hołownia as the Marshal of the Sejm has a significant influence on this. His non-standard way of conducting proceedings earned him a huge group of fans. Now it turns out that we will see his ripostes not only on the hit YouTube channel and on TV.

What cinema premiere are Poles looking forward to the most? Of course, the one related to the Polish parliament. As reported by the portal, the Warsaw Kinoteka cinema has planned a screening of the Sejm proceedings for Monday, December 11. It is then that, while having popcorn, viewers will watch Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki’s attempt to form a government. And the idea was born quite innocently…

This is not a joke. Life “makes” the best memes

On November 28, the Sejm had its first reading of parliamentary bills concerning the establishment of investigative commissions into the so-called envelope elections, illegal tracking using Pegasus software and the visa scandal. During the stormy deliberations to hold the PiS government accountable, the popular internet satirist Michał Marszał, known for running the “NIE” account, “threw out” the idea of watching the next day’s parliaments in a larger group. What seemed like a trivial joke turned into quite a serious idea – Kinoteka came forward.

Kinoteka meets the needs. Let’s get the popcorn ready

We agreed quite spontaneously. We have the best of intentions. In this way, we want to implement the right of citizens to information, we want to popularize knowledge about the functioning of the most important state institutions, and we want to cultivate very civic behavior. We do not hide the fact that a unifying element is also important to us – the fact that people will watch the proceedings of a government body so important for their everyday lives together. – Karolina Fornal from Kinoteka’s distribution and marketing department tells teleshow.wp.pl.

However, to implement this idea, non-standard actions had to be taken. It was necessary to obtain consent for the screening from the Sejm Information Center. At the moment, all signs in the sky indicate that the event will take place, but today we will learn the final shape of the event.

For a good start, we are planning a one-off show in one room – adds Fornal. – But it seems that the interest is so great that we will “open” more rooms. I also admit that if this plan works, we may organize viewing of the Sejm proceedings on a cyclical basis – adds Fornal.

“Sejmflix” is a thing of the past. Now the world of cinema awaits a Polish bestseller? Looking at Poles’ unflagging interest in politics, we feel that watching parliamentary proceedings will become a new national broadcast. You have to ask – when will these “donations” come? What will the box office be like? The state budget will not fix itself.
