The director of Titanic, James Cameronhas given new details about the film, which this year has celebrated 25 years since its premiere in 1998. In the new release of the film, now in 4K Ultra HD, some extras called ‘Titanic: Stories from the Heart’ are included in where Cameron talks about Rose’s scene on the bow of the ship saying “I am flying“, with Jack hugging her.
According to the director, two takes were filmed before the power went out. “The first one is completely out of focus. The second is out of focus for about four seconds and then not. And that’s the one in the movie,” he explains.
That is, for four seconds, the mythical scene is out of focus. This is reported by ‘Entertainment Weekly’, which has echoed these words, recalling that most of that scene on the bow of the ship is computer generated.
Kate Winslet has spoken about that scene, the recording of which she remembers as somewhat moving. “We did it with a real sunset, which was really funny because Jim was like, ‘The sunset is amazing, come on, come on, come on!’ And we were like, ‘What?’, and all of a sudden, Leo and I basically have to get on a forklift and climb a fucking ladder. “We’re going to lose it, we’re going to lose it.” So we went up there and suddenly we heard, ‘Oh, action.’ And we would have like two minutes. It was really, honestly, hilarious,” he recalls.
