The end of this year is particularly full of changes in Polsat stations. In addition to removing “Cabaret Live” from the main channel, it was decided to make a revolution in the information and journalism department of the broadcaster. At the beginning of December, Dorota Gawryluk stopped managing it and was replaced by Piotr Witwicki.
Moreover, in recent days there have been reports that the broadcaster submitted an application to the National Broadcasting Council to change the names of two programs. We are talking about the current station Wydarzenia 24, which is to be changed into Polsat News Polityka, and the new channel W24, which is basically to become the same as Event 24 now and will ultimately also take over this name.
Every terrestrial TV viewer will be able to watch Events 24
Let us recall that in October, the National Broadcasting Council resolved the competition for the space vacated by TVP ABC in the first multiplex. The license was granted to the W24 news channel, which is to be managed by Telewizja Polsat. The station will be available on channel 49 of TV sets and decoders (LCN) of digital terrestrial television.
As they inform, the broadcaster simultaneously submitted an application to change the name of the W24 channel to Events 24 and Events 24 to Polsat News Polityka. In this way, Polsat wants to maintain the existing channel on terrestrial television, but with a greater reach.
Let us remind you that Events 24 is currently part of MUX-4 of digital terrestrial television, which reaches over 70 percent. Poland’s population. After the change, the station will be in the MUX-1 multiplex, the reach of which is almost 30 percentage points higher than that of the fourth multiplex.
Actual new station Polsat News Politics only with paid operators
Meanwhile, the new Polsat News Polityka channel, which will replace the current Channel 24, is to be available on cable networks and digital platforms. Polsat News Polityka is to broadcast, among others: parliamentary proceedings and additional reporting from the Sejm and Senate.
Although, according to unofficial reports from the website, Wydarzenia 24, the new version is to start broadcasting on the first digital terrestrial television multiplex within a week or a week and a half, the latest information indicates that the launch of the new channel may be delayed.
The decision is at the stage of being submitted to KRRIT to agree on the operative part of the decision. KRRIT has 30 days to do so, says Witold Tomaszewski, acting spokesman for the Office of Electronic Communications.
The W24 station, i.e. (after the name change) Event 24, will broadcast the same as the current Channel Event 24. The broadcast will take place 24 hours a day, and the offer will include short news bulletins, weather forecasts, a block with sports information and a review of social media.
