Euskaraz irakurri: “Durangoko Azoka ez da jumpki erraldoi bat soilik, egun osorako plana eskaintzen du”

Beñat Gaztelurrutia, the coordinator of Gerediaga Elkartea, organizer of the Durangoko Azoka, has encouraged people to go to the fair, which “is not just a big store”, but “offers a plan for the whole day.”

In an interview with Radio Euskadi, he said that “everything is organized” and that they are only “finalizing the assembly” to open the doors of the 58th edition of Durangoko Azoka on Wednesday, December 6, at 10:00 a.m.

With 265 events, 900 literary novelties, more than 260 stands… Gaztelurrutia has said that Basque cultural production is “very large for such a small community”, but that what is missing are “receivers”. In that sense, he has assured that “to the extent that Basque is used more and occupies more space in everyday life, Basque culture will have more recipients.”

However, he clarified that the fair is not aimed only at the Basque public, and has highlighted its “diversity”, which makes it suitable for “all audiences”.

Gaztelurrutia has highlighted the extensive programming of the event, which is not limited to the book, record, etc. store. For this reason, he has recommended to everyone who wants to go to consult the schedule “and make the plan to go tasting from one space to another”.

The Gerediaga Elkartea coordinator recalled that this year there will be no online storebecause they have been able to verify that people prefer an in-person visit to the fair, although they have not ruled out that the service will be offered again in the coming years.

Finally, Gaztelurrutia explained that in recent years they have strengthened their cooperation with the Durango Museum of Art and Historywhere this year you can enjoy an exhibition of the recently deceased Agustí Ibarrola, and has announced, without going into details, that for next year they are preparing another exhibition of a “great deceased Basque artist and that next year it will be 100 years of his birth” (Néstor Basterretxea?).
