One of the most emotional moments of Masterchef Celebrity Ecuador (Teleamazonas) took place in the final episode, broadcast on Thursday, November 30. The challenge that evening was to cook a dish that evokes the memory of a family member.
Of the moving preparations, the one that the jury and even her colleagues felt the most was that of actress and tiktoker Gilliam ‘Gigi’ Mieles. Gigi presented her version of manaba ceviche, with peanut sauce, which she calls Brecagi ceviche, at the evaluators’ lectern.

Cook a free dish that reminds you of someone: today’s challenge on ‘MasterChef Celebrity Ecuador’
It is a preparation made by her father, who died when she was eleven years old. The participant recalled that her father was a very hardworking man who they did not see very often, except on Sundays, when he prepared this ceviche. Gigi names him Brecagi in honor of her sisters Brenda (the oldest), Carolina (the middle), and Gigi (the youngest), and because her parents called them so lovingly.
“This ceviche completely reminds me of my childhood with my sisters, my father made it, he was a man who worked so much that we rarely saw him. There were Sundays when he was there and I have that memory of him cooking with my mother, they were browning the fish, the pots were clinking and I would open my door and see them cooking together.

When the father died, this recipe was no longer prepared at home until it was eventually adopted by the middle sister and she shared it with Gigi, which helped her move forward.
During her explanation of the dish, Gigi burst into tears as she revealed that this is the reason she hasn’t enjoyed cooking in years. “I have always hated cooking because it reminds me a lot of my father and so this is all very new to me.”

The story moved jury members Jorge Rausch, Irene González and Carolina Sánchez. “When I leave here, instead of being rejected because my dad cooked, I’m going to make sure I cook for him, out of love,” snapped Rausch, who gave more than a spoonful of ceviche as a sign of love. approval for him.
The other participants, some of whom watched the tasting from the balcony, were also moved by the story. The influencer Luciana Guschmer cried during the Mieles presentation.
