The sixteenth edition of the BBK Mendi Film Bilbao-Bizkaia, which will be held between December 8 and 17 in the capital of Biscay, will screen 57 films of which 17 will be international premieres.

51 of all these works will compete in the official section, and will compete for one of the 12 awards that are awarded in this Mendi Film, the most relevant being the Grand Prize, worth 6,000 euros.

The Polish Eliza Kubarska, winner of the 2015 Mendifilm Grand Prize with “K2 touching the sky”, will receive the IAMF Grand Prize on December 12, the highest award of the international alliance of mountain festivals.

The festival will start on December 8 at the Euskalduna palace with an opening session in which the mountaineer Edurne Pasaban will be awarded the WOP Foundation Award, which recognizes the defense of the values ​​of mountaineering.

Pasaban, the first woman in history to ascend the 14 eight-thousanders, follows in the list of winners of this WOP Award the film ‘Drawn’ by Jeremy Collins (2014), Josep Manuel Anglada (2015), Sir Chris Bonington (2016), Peter Habeler ( 2017), Juanjo San Sebastián (2018), Nives Meroi and Romano Benet (2019), the Baltistan Foundation (2020), Sebastián Álvaro (2021) and Eduardo Martínez de Pisón (2022).
