In “Sejm Wita” he talks about his experiences working in parliament, and also talks to Justyna Dobrosz-Oracz (“Gazeta Wyborcza”), Katarzyna Kolenda-Zaleska from TVN, Roch Kowalski (RMF FM), Patryk Michalski (WP) and Karolina Lewicka from TOK FM, who also work on Wiejska Street on a daily basis. Why? – I really wanted to show, because some completely untrue myths have been created, that what is happening now, e.g. what happened with the government media, or rather with the public media, which became government media, that it happened in the past, that was. Well, it wasn’t like that, he says.
Radomir Wit: What is on paper will never die
It’s a chronicle, he says about his book. – I thought that it would be good to summarize some things on paper, so that what is written on paper will not be lost. So that this chronology of events is remembered, what it is about and what the intentions of some politicians are when it comes to free media and access to public information, transparency of public life. But it is also a signpost, a hint as to what he may not do, which may constitute a betrayal of some standards of a democratic state. Maybe – of course, I don’t want to force anyone here – but I think that a few politicians who will have a lot to say in the near future should look through these pages and remind themselves of certain things so as not to repeat the same mistakes – says Wit. You can watch the entire interview with the journalist below:
“When real journalists asked Kaczyński questions, your TVP employee was a living navigation”
He himself, as he says in an interview with Marta Korycka from Gazeta.pl, which can also be listened to as the podcast “Dobrze dziej, dobierz się” on Publio.pl and streaming services, has always been interested in politics. However, when he came from Wrocław to Warsaw for professional reasons, he did not think about such a career path. – I was looking for something in the so-called entertainment, show business, culture – he says, recalling the first few years in the capital. In 2015, he joined TVP Info and, as he says, “it clicked”. – I left TVP Info in 2016, at the beginning, after Law and Justice decided to change the public media into government media and simply turn it into a propaganda tool, so only people who deal with propaganda remained there. Journalists were either fired or simply left, and I ended up working at TVN24, he recalls. Radomir Wit says about those who stayed at Telewizja Polska:
I believe that all people who have violated the basic principles of journalistic work should face consequences, because you cannot spread hatred and organize systemic attacks and attack people with impunity. And this happened in the government media.
He says that while journalists of free, independent media help and collaborate with each other, the situation is different with the government media. – I do not talk to representatives of the government media and I do not maintain any contact. Besides, they play quite strange roles, even puzzling, I would say. There was such a picture when Jarosław Kaczyński with Elżbieta Witek some time ago could not enter the hall of columns because the door was closed, and he had to go along the corridor. When real-life journalists asked him questions, your TVP employee was a lively navigator. She just walked and said: “Mr. President, this way, this way…”
