Chorosiñska was once afraid of embarrassment in front of Zapendowska. She is the new minister of culture in the PiS government

Dominika Chorosiñska was involved in various activities during her almost 45-year life. Before she became the minister in the two-week PiS government, she tried, among others, delight Polsat viewers with their vocal skills. In the first edition of the “Jak oni ¶piewają” program, she took the penultimate place, and we remind you what her actions in the show were like. – I’m afraid of embarrassment. I’m afraid this is a live program, she said before entering the stage.

Dominika Chorosińska (née Figurska) is a 44-year-old media personality who has been professionally active since 1999. Initially, she played episodic roles in such series as “Na dobre i na evil” or “Zostać Miss”, and in 2001 she joined the acting team at the Polish Theater in Wrocław.

However, the real breakthrough in her media career came a year later, when she joined the cast of the still very popular soap opera “M jak miłość”. There she played the controversial character of Ewa, who was the lover of Krzysztof Zduński (Cezary Morawski).

They joked that she was Kayah’s competition. Later they accused her of unclean vocals

Over time, her character gained recognition among the series’ viewers, and her popularity soared. It was in 2007 that she was invited to take part in a new Polsat entertainment program entitled “How they sing”. The rules of the show were very clear. The participants were actors and actresses who performed musical pieces every week.

Their actions were assessed by a jury panel consisting of Rudi Schuberth, Elżbieta Zapendowska and Edyta Górniak. Their notes were supposed to be a guide for TV viewers who voted for the participants via text messages. With each episode, a person left the program who had been “at risk” the week before due to the low number of viewers’ votes and who still had not managed to gain their sympathy.

The new Minister of Culture and National Heritage took the penultimate place in the first edition. However, let’s go back to the first episode, where before the debut performance, viewers could watch material in which Chorosińska introduces herself. She already showed off her vocal abilities, reciting a fragment of “The Bad Wolf Song” by Władysław Hańcza: “My stomach is growling, I’m getting cramps.” She also admitted that she is afraid of embarrassment and is stressed by the fact that it is a live program.

Her first performance was a song by Kayah and Bregović entitled “Right to left”, after which the show’s hosts Krzysztof Ibisz and Katarzyna Cichopek assessed it as a “volcano of energy”. However, the jurors were not so flattering towards her. Edyta Górniak said that she had some intonation deficiencies, and Rudi Schuberth wanted to be more funny and said that “the competition for Kayah is growing”, to which Chorosińska burst into panicked laughter.

In the next episode, Dominika “renaissance man” Chorosińska faced “Holding Out For A Hero” Bonnie Tyler. In this case, Edyta Górniak was also not kind to her and again pointed out her problems with intonation while singing. Zapendowska, however, stated then, referring to the teaser shown before the performance, that Chorosińska’s explanation that she had no experience in singing was not interesting to the audience. Later, however, she got down to specifics:

There are big problems with this introduction, because there are only vocals and piano. And there the whole truth comes to light… Due to this, a little blood was shed. It was dirty. If I had to award points, it would be… – said one of the strictest jurors in Polish entertainment programs.

Chorosińska sang “Dżaga” in the Polsat show. This video is currently a hit on TikTok

Zapendowska ultimately awarded her only two points out of ten, emphasizing that she would not be as merciful in scoring as Rudi Schuberth. However, Chorosiński’s most iconic performance was the next one and the last one, because the current Minister of Culture and National Heritage was eliminated in the third program of the show.

The viewers decided that in this episode he should sing the song “Dżaga” from the repertoire of the band Virgin. The then star of “M jak miłość”, wanting to look like Doda, changed into very short pink shorts and a low-cut blouse. She also put on over-the-knee boots and white stockings. However, this did not make the jurors look at her performance more favorably.

The first to speak was Edyta Górniak, who immediately gave vent to her emotions, saying: “what a stupid song this is”, thus also slamming the author of the hit. Elżbieta Zapendowska agreed with her and, assessing Chorosińska’s performance, said:

There was energy, there were no pure sounds… and that’s it, said Zapendowska.

After this performance, she received very low scores. The average score from all jurors was only 3.7/10, which did not escape the attention of TV viewers. They decided not to support Chorosińska and the episode in which she faced Doda’s song was the last one in which she appeared. The recording from this episode is currently a TikTok hit, and Internet users are merciless towards the politician. “Not an actress, not a singer, much less a minister, but what a government, what ministers, it’s rock bottom” – this is what one of the comments says.

After appearing in “How do they sing?” no new proposals arrived. Until finally… “Smolensk” appeared!

Apparently they say: “it doesn’t matter how they talk about you, what matters is that they talk about you!”, but in the case of the current Minister of Culture and National Heritage, it seems that participation in the program did not provide her with many new proposals. In 2009, she disappeared from the series “M jak miłość”, and in the following years she played episodic roles in several series, and for a longer time she managed to stay in the cast of another TVP soap opera entitled “The colors of happiness”.

She returned to television in 2016, when she started collaborating with the right-wing television station TV Republika. In the same year, we could also see her on cinema screens in the film “Smolensk”, which was razed to the ground by film critics.

All this led to the fact that a year later she started appearing on TVP Info as a publicist, and in 2019 she was elected as a member of the Sejm of the 11th term, running on the Law and Justice list. The further development of this character’s career is happening right now before our eyes. However, it is unlikely to last very long.
