Monday’s edition of news programs began with the most important political event in the country. President Andrzej Duda appointed the government of Jarosław Kaczyński and Mateusz Morawiecki for a new term. Most people in Poland expect that this will be an extremely short term of office – a maximum of two weeks. However, since the president’s announcement that Morawiecki would become the new prime minister, “Wiadomości” lobbied to include information about PiS’s absolute victory in the elections. There was discreet talk about searching for additional votes that would provide support for the new-old prime minister, about coalition talks with members of parliament who wished to remain anonymous… It was argued that a percentage victory in the elections automatically also means a new government.
However, the numbers are absolute and it is difficult to argue with them. Morawiecki needs far too many votes to obtain a vote of confidence from the Sejm – even the Confederation will not help here. This is supposedly to cover “problems with the lack of a program” of the opposition, which – let us remind you – is not formally in power, because Mateusz Morawiecki is the Prime Minister. Commissions of inquiry were compared to games that fed those who could not afford bread in ancient Rome. “Eternal show, and when to rule?” – they asked.

“Wiadomości” also included extensive material about general “lies” about crises during the PiS rule. Tomasz Sakiewicz said in a comment that the opposition’s talk about subsequent problems in Poland led to Poles voting “against their own interests, against their own views.”
