The greatest weight gain during pregnancy. When might it take place?
As the woman’s body adapts to this condition, her weight also changes over time. Some people may wonder when the greatest weight gain occurs. This most often happens in the second trimester, around week 20 to 30. Then you can even weigh 5-6 kg. However, it should be borne in mind that it will look slightly different for each woman and the weight change may not be the same in different cases. But what constitutes weight during pregnancy? It turns out that it is not only influenced by mass.
What constitutes weight during pregnancy? You won’t believe how much the placenta and amniotic fluid weigh
In a short video on Instagram, Joanna Piórek-Wojciechowska showed what really constitutes a woman’s weight at the end of pregnancy. She compared the individual values to popular food products to illustrate the situation. Many people may be surprised how many components influence the final weight, and it is not fat, which is usually what we mean when we talk about “extra” kilograms. A woman’s weight at the end of pregnancy includes, among others:
- Child’s weight – about 3.5 kg;
- Breasts – up to 2 kg;
- Uterus – 1-1.5 kg;
- Bearing – 0.5-1 kg;
- Blood and other fluids – 1.5-2 kg;
- Amniotic fluid – 1-1.5 kg.
In the comments section of the video, which has already been viewed over 400,000 times, many women shared their stories about weight during pregnancy. Some admitted that they gained a lot of weight, and soon after giving birth their weight decreased significantly or even returned to the pre-pregnancy level.
I gained 20 kg during pregnancy. Right after leaving the hospital, I weighed myself and I was down 14 kg. So there is no need to worry about extra kilos.
So ‘gaining’ about 10 kg is normal!
I’m 25 weeks pregnant and have gained 3 kg. During my first pregnancy I gained 8 pounds and lost them in a week. Apparently that’s my nature. Some mothers gain 20 kg and lose it all in a month.
