His stepfather tortured him, then he was put up for adoption. Is the Kremlin hiding Putin’s biography? Researchers have a theory

Vladimir Putin has become known to the world as a ruthless and authoritarian ruler, although the Russian media still portrays him as a real hero. Researchers have been poring over his confusing biography for years, pointing to many inconsistencies. They questioned, among others, the date and place of his birth, and even his parents.

His biography has become the stuff of legends, and today no one doubts that the Kremlin is trying to hide many facts from his past. In 2000, as part of the election campaign, his biography was even prepared and published under the title “The First Person”. The information presented on its pages is considered true, and attempts to undermine it are strictly enforced by law in Russia. However, it sometimes happens that the creators of propaganda messages make mistakes that only confirm the researchers’ guesses and speculations.

Russian propaganda made a mistake. Has Vladimir Putin’s real age been revealed?

In November 2022, the state-owned station Rossiya 1 published material devoted to Vladimir Putin’s parents, especially his father, Vladimir Spiridonovich, who was portrayed as a war hero. However, the attention of many was drawn to the fragment informing that the man died during World War II while breaking the siege of Leningrad. However, this is inconsistent with the president’s date of birth, because if we accepted it as a fact, Putin would have to have been born no later than 1945, which would confirm the theory that he is currently not 71, but 78 years old. The mistake was quickly caught, and a fragment of the program was replaced, emphasizing that Spiridonowicz lived to a ripe old age and died in 1999.

Researchers question the biography of the Russian leader. Who were Putin’s parents?

The above-mentioned propaganda failure is not the first time in which Putin’s age has been questioned. She wrote about it, among others: Krystyna Kurczab-Redlich, former correspondent in Russia, in the book “Vova, Wołodia, Wladimir”. In her opinion, the president was born at least two years earlier than official data says, and not in Leningrad, but in the Urals. According to the version she presented, his parents were Płaton Priwalov, a farmer, and a mechanic. The pregnancy was the result of an affair, so she raised her son alone. She later married a Georgian soldier, gave birth to two daughters and left for Georgia.

I really wanted to stay in the Urals. I wanted to stay with Wowka, get away from this peasant life, I wanted to study… But could I? Two daughters were waiting in Metekhi, and after two days Georgy sent a telegram: ‘Come back immediately!’ And he threatened to bring us in by the police. It actually turned out that I was replacing Wowa with girls

– author of the book A Woman’s Statement. Apparently, there are also documents in the archives of the city of Caspi confirming that Vladimir Putin was a student of one of the local schools in 1959-1960. He was supposed to be a bright boy, but not accepted by his stepfather, who used physical violence and other harsh punishments against him. Ultimately, Wiera, wanting to ensure his safety, left him to be raised by his grandparents. They, in turn, put him up for adoption and he ended up in the care of Maria and Vladimir Putin, who are listed in official records as his biological parents.
