Ewa Pokas dreamed of becoming a teacher since childhood, but after passing her secondary school leaving exams she went to Krakow to study Polish studies at the Jagiellonian University. However, she quickly realized that this was not her calling. She applied to the Warsaw theater school, and during the entrance exams, she impressed the committee and received her index book.

Maciej Zembaty appeared in her life at the beginning of her career. She met an aspiring actor who was 2 years older than her during a seminar with Master Ludwik Sempoliński. He immediately caught her eye and it was mutual; after all, there were few men who didn’t pay attention to her.

A feeling quickly developed between the two and they quickly became a couple, but they were not able to study together because soon their beloved Pokas was expelled from the university. The official reason was said to be his rebellious disposition, but he himself had a completely different explanation. – However, I was thrown out of the Warsaw State Theater School as a rebel, and my rebellion consisted in stealing the girlfriend of the actor Zygmunt Kęstowicz – in an interview for the “Arterie” magazine. However, this did not affect the development of their relationship and finally, after 2 years of dating, they got married. – Estrada, two young actors, because Zembaty was still planning to be an actor at that time, strong emotions, a certain immaturity. That story distanced Maciek’s mother from all his wives – the painter, Henryk Waniek, talked about their marriage in an interview with the “Pani” magazine.

After receiving her diploma, Pokas focused on acting in theater and on screen. She appeared, among others, in “Amateur” or “There is no difference without fire”. In turn, Zembaty, after studying directing and later Polish studies, began to pursue the role of a translator. He was also famous for his dark humor, so together with his beloved and Janusz Bogucki, he founded the “Fermata” cabaret. Then dark clouds hung over the marriage. The party lifestyle and the frequency of drinking alcohol and other drugs intensified the symptoms of bipolar disorder with which Zembaty was struggling. – Nothing human is alien to me. Everything is for people, drugs too – he said in “Trybuna”. He was crazy with jealousy and accused her of numerous betrayals, which she was unable to bear. They divorced after only 2 years of marriage.
Later he married a famous painter, Ewa Gargulińska, but their marriage did not last long. Then he married Magdalena, with whom he had two sons. His beloved supported him in therapy and made sure he remembered to take his medications, but in vain, and eventually this relationship also became history. His next partner was Elżbieta Dębska, but she was also unable to endure his changeable moods for long. Maciej Zembaty died unexpectedly on June 27, 2011, at the age of 67. In turn, Ewa Pokas appeared on screen several more times. She married Zygmunt Krauze, but after the breakup she went to France, where she focused on her writing career.
