The Szczepanik brothers, the members of the band, were born in a tiny town in MaĆopolska – Bogoniowice. They grew up in a wooden cottage, which was thoroughly renovated many years later, when they achieved success on the Polish music scene. .
The brothers from the Pectus band recall their childhood
The boys’ mother worked as a confectioner for 12 years. At night she made bread and cakes in the bakery. The father of future stage stars was rarely at home for long – he worked abroad to support the family. Tomasz Szczepanik mentioned in the program “The Old Lady Must Fuck” that thanks to their mother’s work they could save at least on bread:
My mother was a pastry chef for over 10 years and worked at night. We had one bread, two rolls and a few donuts, that was the allocation per employee – he said.
Today, the brothers not only give concerts. They admit that they spend a lot of time together outside of work. They go on vacation together and often have family meetings. Szczepanik claims that this closeness was born in the small house where they spent their childhood:
The room we grew up in was so tight and so small, and we were so close that we have remained close to this day – he said on TVN.
Pectus. The brothers grew up in difficult conditions
The conditions in which Tomasz, Marek, Mateusz and Maciej grew up were difficult. The singer himself describes them as “spartan”. The wooden cottage remembered much older times than the 1970s and 1980s when the brothers were growing up. There was no sewage system, the toilet was a separate privy:
There was poverty and spartan conditions at home. There was no water tap in the house, we had an outhouse 50 meters from the house and we bathed in a basin. Mom never had the opportunity to fly abroad on holiday with dad. All savings ended up at home, said Tomasz.
The lack of running hot water, which had to be heated on the so-called tile stove, washing together in a basin, harvesting or mushroom picking were integral elements of our childhood. The love and hard work of our parents led to the fact that, despite minimal financial conditions, we had a loving home where we never lacked anything – he wrote on his website.
