This is currently a hit on Netflix. Polish production is seen not only in Poland

In November, there were several interesting streaming premieres. We have, among others: a Polish production from Netflix (“Feedback”, which is number one in Uruguay) and a German production on Disney+ (“In a German House”).

In the new episode of “POPkultura”, in addition to news, you will find a few words about films that we probably do not expect to be based on facts. And at the end you will be able to see Beata Kozidrak singing in Italian:

Surprising films that inspired real events

Another film that – which may not be obvious – was inspired by real events is the production of “Goodfellas” from 1990, directed by Martin Scorsese. The script largely faithfully recreates the story of Henry Hill, who was a gangster but later became an FBI informant. The film, as well as the book on which the script was based, are based on his testimony. Scorsese referred to history more than once. His latest film, “The Time of the Blood Moon,” is based on a reportage about the murders of Native Americans in the 1920s.

Filmmakers have often used real-life stories, but among those that we might expect are just fiction, there is the film adaptation of the book “Marley and Me” with Owen Wilson – about the friendship between a human and a Labrador. There are also many horror movies that are based on real events. These include “The Exorcism of Emily Rose”. The script was based on the book “The Exorcism of Anneliese Michel”, in which the cultural anthropologist, religious studies and linguist prof. Felicitas D. Goodman talks, among others: with parents and priests performing exorcisms on the girl. They were accused of causing Anneliese’s death due to negligence.
