At a time when access to good books is commonplace and electronic readers are gaining popularity, only a few still use libraries. However, if you decide to rent a car, you must remember a few important rules, including: about the return date, which is usually the most difficult to meet.
She was a regular at this library. She borrowed books a lot
An unusual post appeared on the Facebook page of the Blackpool library in the UK city. It describes the case of a reader who was a regular at the facility in the 1970s. She worked nearby at the popular Woolworth chain, and during her lunch breaks she liked to browse the titles available on the shelves. She usually took the ones that interested her the most home with her, and as soon as she reached the last page, she brought them back. In the meantime, it turned out that the department store would soon be closed. Knowing that she wouldn’t be coming to the area as often anymore and would probably stop going to her once favorite place, she decided to collect everything she had and returned them to the library. However, she didn’t realize that she had completely forgotten about one of them.
She had this book for over 45 years. She finally returned it to the library
During routine cleaning, it caught the reader’s attention due to its clearly different aesthetics than the others she had on the shelf. It was “Tolkien’s World” by Randel Helms, whose pages analyzed the work of one of the greatest British writers. She didn’t recall ever making such a purchase, but as soon as she opened it, she realized where it came from. It turned out to be a work belonging to the Blackpool library in 1976. She immediately decided to go to the facility and correct the mistake from years ago. The employees did not hide their surprise and published a funny entry online, warning other customers against similar “misdemeanors”.
Of course, we do not fine customers for late books in Blackpool libraries, even if decades have passed
– written under the photo. However, if the library decided to impose consequences for delay, which, according to the regulations, apply to everyone regardless of the circumstances, the reader would have to pay a considerable fine.
