W³adys³aw Kowalski delighted the stage and on the screen for decades, but his private life, especially his love life, was full of turbulence. He was unable to remain faithful, and he left his first wife for Kalina Jêdrusik. Many years later he died in a tragic accident.

Władysław Kowalski never hid his weakness for women, he even said that he “does not flirt with them, but lures them.” His first wife was Elżbieta Kępińska, whom he met while studying at the Warsaw State Theater School. in the fourth year, and after obtaining their diploma, they went to Sopot, where they fulfilled themselves on the stage of local theaters. They later returned to the capital, joining the cast of Athenaeum, but the idyll did not last long.

She also made sure that Kępińska found out about their intimacy, which finally ended in 1965. – My first marriage was a beautiful childhood. I grew up very late – an actor many years later.

In 1970, he noticed Roman Kłosowski’s niece, Monika Sołubianka, whom he met on the set of the series “Kolumbiowie”. – I was intrigued by her beauty, she was beautiful. It had some mystery about it, something that people were curious about, he recalled. However, the 21-year-old did not respond to his advances, as she was newly married to the director, Andrzej Maria Marczewski. It wasn’t until their paths crossed again 5 years later, and her marriage was already in the past, that she showed interest. – Huge talent, charismatic personality. He was a star. I have never reached this level in acting, she said, fascinated.

Moreover, he was still in a close relationship with his ex-wife, which his new crush could not accept. – At first there was fascination, romance, and then the belief that I would never be the most important thing to him. He was still under the influence of his ex-wife and was unable or unwilling to free himself from it. I couldn’t come to terms with it, so we parted ways, she said after the breakup. She finally found happiness with Marek Muszyński, a driver and rally co-driver, with whom she had a son, Maciej. Unfortunately, the man died in an accident during the Lower Silesian Rally in May 1978.

When Kowalski learned about the tragedy of his former lover, he decided to support her and take care of her son. – He helped, he was close. I can’t even imagine how I would survive this difficult time without him, she recalled with gratitude. As time passed, feelings between the former lovers rekindled. In 1981, the couple got married, and three years later their family expanded with another child, Jakub. – There was no proposal, no ring, no honeymoon, because it was the middle of the season at the theater – recalled Kowalski, admitting that at that time it was not family but work that was his priority. had been going through a crisis for years, they lived under one roof, but each of them led separate lives. – Each of us had our own world, our own friends. I got used to it, said Sołubianka. It was only many years later that Kowalski realized his mistake. – I could never tell Monika how important she is to me. I was so focused on myself that I didn’t notice her dilemmas – he admitted bitterly shortly before his death.
