Are cheap cosmetics of lower quality? The beautician says straight: “I wouldn’t buy these”

Drugstore shelves are brimming with the number and types of care cosmetics. Some women find it difficult to understand all this, so when choosing them, they focus on price. Are you sure this is a good idea? Is a high price really a guarantee of quality? In a conversation with us, beautician Ewa Olczak-Dziadolka dispelled the myth that many women still believe.

On the one hand, there is a common belief in public opinion that the more expensive the product, the more spectacular it is. However, on the other hand, many people realize that in the case of luxury brands, a large part of the price of a given cosmetic is not the product itself, but the packaging, marketing and the prestige of the brand itself. So does the price tell us at least a little about the quality and is it possible to find a cheap cosmetic that is good?

Are cheap cosmetics worse and expensive cosmetics better? The beautician explains

– Maybe I’ll start with the most expensive cosmetics, because these cosmetics, which cost several thousand, most often do not contain substances that are equivalent to the value of this cream. A cosmetic that will cost around PLN 200 may actually contain substances that are precious and the manufacturer had to set such a price. (…) Large companies can have cheaper products of very good quality, but it is impossible to create a product that will be super cheap, at least for a small brand, with great quality. Unfortunately, says Ewa Olczak-Dziadolka in a conversation with Agnieszka Matracka.

– Small brands always have a higher price, also due to production costs, which are most often made in Poland, not in China. There are a number of activities that affect the price. However, I would not buy the cheapest products – she adds.

What should you pay attention to when buying cosmetics?

When buying a cosmetic, the basic criterion for choosing a given product should be its composition, which meets the needs of a given skin. A cosmetic should be assessed based on the content of active ingredients, not solely on its price. There are products on the market that, although they differ in price, are similarly effective.
