AJ McLean, the singer and rapper known for his participation in the Backstreet Boys, is committed to the process of recovering from past traumas, in addition to depression and anxiety, for which he has long struggled with alcoholism, although he is currently two years sober.

“That’s what I’m trying to do right now. It’s there [forma de ser] healthy selfish, and now I make my own decisions in life and make my own decisions”, commented the American artist on this new direction that even led him to look for his father.

One of the most significant aspects of the new lifestyle the American has embarked on is his recent reunion with his biological father, whom he lost sight of 42 years ago when he was just a child.

“I never knew my father in any way, other than what I was told about the rest of my family. “My father would appear on one show or another, but I never want to see him or talk to him,” he revealed on his Instagram profile in September.

The initiative to search for his father came after he underwent a therapeutic program in Scottsdale, Arizona, where AJ McLean devoted himself for a period of 10 weeks to closing the open chapters in his life and achieving the best version of himself, for which he was separated from his daughters, Elliott, age ten, and Lyric, age six.

According to what Page Six reported, Arizona not only allowed the artist to free himself from the burden of everything related to fame, but also to find ways to properly take care of himself and his family. “I hope that if I make mistakes, I will learn from them. I’m not perfect. I don’t want to be perfect. No one is,” he pointed out.
