The election of Szymon Hołownia as Speaker of the Sejm is the most frequently discussed topic in Polish politics in the last week. On Thursday at 8 p.m., his first television address was broadcast, in which he referred, among others, to: until Monday’s vote, in which MPs did not consent to Elżbieta Witek from PiS taking up the position of deputy marshal.
Thursday’s program began with listening to the speech of Marshal Hołownia
After listening to the speech, Monika Olejnik asked her guests to comment on it. Michał Wójcik from Sovereign Poland, who was a minister-member of the Council of Ministers in the second government of Mateusz Morawiecki, took the liberty of criticizing the political debutant. He stated that it was probably the shortest message in the history of Poland, and then the presenter interjected:
It’s better to say less than to say nothing for ten minutes.
The United Right politician replied that the only thing missing in the speech was for Szymon Hołownia to indicate a specific person from the PiS parliamentary club who would be accepted for the position of deputy speaker of the Sejm.
Then he started to defend Elżbieta Witek, who, in his opinion, had held the position of Speaker of the Sejm very well in recent years. Here, the host also quickly jumped into action. She stated that Law and Justice MPs were not very eager to defend their candidate on Monday.
Later in the program, there was a lot of discussion about irregularities involving the Speaker of the Sejm, which occurred during the sessions in previous terms of the Sejm. Halfway through the program, the atmosphere in the studio was still very good, but in the second half of “Kropka nad i” it was getting more and more crowded.
At the end of the program, Monika Olejnik pulled out an ace from her sleeve. She asked about “German rudeness”
In the last minutes of “Kropka nad i” there was a lively discussion about obtaining EU funds from the KPO and about the European Union itself. Then Monika Olejnik decided to ask her guest from the United Right what “German rudeness” was. Let us recall that on Monday, Jarosław Kaczyński directed these words towards Donald Tusk and his party.
After a moment of silence, Michał Wójcik asked for an explanation. When everything became clear to him, he decided to hit the ball. He stated that Donald Tusk considers the United Right to be thieves. The presenter did not give up and repeated the question, expecting a more specific answer. However, this did not make her hear words that satisfied her. She repeated again: “What kind of rudeness is this?“.
The United Right politician still did not know how to answer the question and covered himself with claims that Donald Tusk was not offended by these words. And then he said that this is the “discourse” and returned to the topic of the European Union, the future shape of which, according to him, Germany wants to impose. Then Monika Olejnik said that the program was coming to an end, to which Michał Wójcik reacted by shouting:
But why do we have to stop when I say something important?
The presenter gave him a moment to finish his thoughts, and the atmosphere in the studio increasingly resembled that of a marketplace. Michał Wójcik lamented that in the past he had been ridiculed in this program, and now “there are already prepared changes to the treaties on the table.” Krzysztof Śmiszek summed it all up by saying:
You are proof that there is such a thing as PiS rudeness, not German rudeness.
This further enraged the Sovereign Poland politician, who started talking under his breath, which was difficult for the audience to understand. Then the host began to say goodbye to the viewers, but she could not leave Michał Wójcik’s behavior without comment. At the very end she added: “Minister, really… Thank you.”
