Seven Basque short films compete in the Official Section of the latest edition of Zinebi

The International Documentary and Short Film Festival organized by Bilbao City Council will be held between November 10 and 17, and the seven short films in the Official Section have already been presented.
Specifically, they are Sour by Bilbao director David Pérez Sañudo, winner of a Goya award for his feature film Anne (2020); Betiko gaua by Eneko Sagardoy, which will be presented in its world premiere; In a Nearby Field by the Biscayan artist who won the Gure Artea 2020 prize, Laida Lertxundi, and the American artist Ren Ebel, and Memories of an Empty Houseby the versatile Portuguese filmmaker Bruno Carnide.
The rest are The illustrated womanby the Basque entertainer Isabel Herguera, Salt covers everythingdebut in the cinema of Joana Moya from Bilbao, and Ximinoa by the Labortana director Itziar Leemans.
At the opening gala tomorrow, Friday, Zinebi will pay tribute to the first two recipients of the Mikeldi of Honor of this edition: the filmmaker Frederick Wisemanwinner of the honorary Oscar for his entire career in 2016, and the Bilbao film critic and journalist Felix Linares. Wiseman, 93, has canceled his presence at the Festival due to a sudden worsening of his health, for which he had to be admitted to a hospital in Boston (USA).
At the end of the opening gala, the Basque short films competing in the Official Section will be screened.
These seven films are competing for the Zinebi Grand Prix (7,000 euros), the Basque Cinema Grand Prix (6,000 euros), the Spanish Cinema Grand Prix (6,000 euros), the Mikeldi awards in the categories of fiction, animation and documentary ( 5000 euros each) and the EITB-Public Award (3000 euros).
