Childhood was not the easiest, especially when it comes to the relationship with his father. The singer, after many years, opened up and talked about how she experienced her parents’ divorce and the moment when she… my father left my mother for another woman and went abroad. Kayah was 12 years old at the time. In 2019, she recalled this moment in an interview with the magazine.
I was then organizing the books, my mother went downstairs to the telephone to call my grandparents, she came back, closed the door, leaned against it and sank to the ground and said: ‘Kasia, dad is leaving us.’ […] I felt like I was about to explode. […] I crawled up the stairs, roaring.
As a teenager, Kayah tried to appear strong to her mother, but inside she was deeply affected by her father’s departure. But she didn’t want her mother to see her in disarray. Kayah’s father did not inform her about his decision privately, but left her a letter in which he told her to talk to her mother about the situation.
He was unable to tell my mother that he had another woman and that he needed a divorce. He just wrote me a letter telling me that I would have a brother or sister and to talk to my mother. And I was 12 years old then.
He has never been to her concert. The relationship with his father was improved only after many years
Ten years after leaving, the father decided to re-establish contact with his daughter. she then visited him in Austria, where he settled permanently and started a new family. Her father never saw her on stage, despite many invitations from the singer. In an interview with “Pani”, as quoted by the portal:
Once, when he came to Poland, I was playing a concert and I persuaded him to come. Refused. It hurts, but I have accepted this state of affairs. He’s 74 years old, so I won’t change him. I stopped judging him as critically as I used to.
