A week after the election of the new Miss Universe, the title determined by the beauty pageant that this year has Delary Stoffers of Guayaquil as its representative from Ecuador, the company that owns the pageant has declared bankruptcy in Thailand.
This Thursday, JKN Global Group issued a statement on its financial condition in an attempt to resolve ‘liquidity issues’.
It was announced to the Thai stock exchange after two months of missing the deadline for the repayment of bonds worth about 12 million dollars.
JKN Global Group, owned by media mogul and transgender rights advocate Anna Jakapong Jakrajutatip, bought the pageant previously owned by former US President Donald Trump (purchased for $20 million in 2022).
According to the press release, this Thursday JKN’s board of directors planned to present a business rehabilitation plan to the bankruptcy court of the kingdom, without this situation affecting the already planned operations.
“Submitting a request for rehabilitation will effectively solve the company’s liquidity problem through a legal mechanism and provide fair protection to all shareholders,” the document states.
