While Thomas was hidden from the audience, two assistants covered his body with a substance. Then the curtain opened, the assistant handed the puzzle to the man, and Thomas announced that his clothes were about to be set on fire and that he would not extinguish them until he completed the puzzle. Both the jurors and the audience reacted with horror, and the assistant immediately set his clothes on fire at the man’s signal.

After the broadcast, almost 350 complaints were received. Viewers were concerned

When the clothes started burning, Thomas started solving the Rubik’s Cube. Terrified jurors and the audience anxiously watched what was happening on stage. The performance kept everyone in suspense until the man solved the puzzle and his assistants extinguished the fire. Thomas immediately received a standing ovation, even though his performance was dangerous and could have endangered his health, and the jurors decided to let it go to the next edition. He heard “yes” four times. However, viewers did not like the performance and after the broadcast, they reported 334 official complaints to Ofcom, the institution that supervises the media market in Great Britain. According to the website “”, viewers were furious. They were concerned that promoting similar behaviors might lead to children wanting to imitate them.
