When it hit the screens at the end of February 1999, viewers immediately fell in love with Anka and Jacek Kwiatkowski (played by Gabriela Kownacka and ) and their children. The production was carried out successfully for over a decade, thus becoming one of the longest-running and at the same time most popular Polish series.

Most productions, with the exception of outdoor scenes, are usually shot in a professional studio, but in the case of organized in a real house, it was also supposed to make the story “more real”. – We had quite theatrical decorations there, which were dismantled and reassembled after the recordings. After some time, they almost fell apart and the producers came up with the idea of shooting in natural interiors – she said set designer, Inez Bodył-Plaskota, in an interview with the portal.
The search for a suitable one began, which quickly brought results. The choice fell on a building built in the 1990s, located at 15 Frezji Street in Warsaw’s Wawer district, just half an hour by car from the city center. In turn, there are only two addresses to the residence of Alutka and Jędrula, the neighbors of the main characters. The most loyal fans of the production have repeatedly expressed their desire to purchase these properties. When the final blow was made on the set of “Foster Family”, the buildings went up for sale. – The Kwiatkowski house was sold first and a family with children and a dog moved in, very similar to the one in the series. They were fans of “Foster Family” and really wanted to live in this house, even though it is very specific. It really was their dream – said Inez Bodył-Plaskota in the same interview. A journalist from the portal Noizz.pl went on a small trip in the footsteps of the TV series family. In a recording published on his Instagram profile, he showed what the building known to everyone from the screens currently looks like.
The area where Kwiatkowskich is located is extremely charming, surrounded by trees on almost every side. However, the appearance of the property is not optimistic. Although we do not know what the colorful interior looks like now, the façade is clearly tarnished by time, and the yard seems not very well-kept.
