The fired journalist revealed the content of an e-mail with instructions from the president of Polish Radio. “Terrible bastard”

Rafa³ Tomañski has been working at Radio Trójka for over a year. In his programs, he touched upon topics that were inconvenient for the government, which, in his opinion, was the reason for his dismissal from his position. The journalist revealed the content of a shocking e-mail he allegedly received from the president of Polish Radio, Agnieszka Kamiñska.

Rafał Tomański is a journalist, Japanese scholar and author of several books about the Land of the Rising Sun, as well as a PAP correspondent in Beijing. In 2022, the journalist joined Radio Three. At the beginning, he ran the Saturday magazine “Świat do Trzeci”, in which he dealt with international politics. Later he became one of the hosts of “Political Salon” and “Trójka Clubs”.

In recent months, Tomański could also be heard on Saturday’s “Śniadani w Trójce”, where he talked to guests about current affairs. As Onet, on August 12, the journalist replaced Beata Michniewicz in the program. At that time, the studio hosted politicians such as Bartosz Kownacki from PiS, Katarzyna Lubnauer from KO and Marcin Kulasek from the Left.

The day before the broadcast, the government announced what the first question in the referendum would be. It was about “supporting the sale of state-owned enterprises” that Tomański asked his guests. The journalist wanted the listeners to understand exactly what these “state-owned enterprises” are. The issue was thoroughly explained by Katarzyna Lubnauer from the Civic Coalition. “This is interesting, because there are eighteen state-owned enterprises in Poland and we all probably haven’t even heard of them. These are, for example, the Poznańska Fabryka Maszyn Żniwnych “Agromet” which is in bankruptcy, the Railway Construction Company in Kielce or Zakłady Elektrochemiczne Ema-Brzesie” – said the politician. “In any case, these are companies that do not reflect the state’s assets,” she added.

In the next minutes of the program, Tomański touched on the security of contracts for Poland’s purchase of weapons from South Korea. Marcin Kulasek from the Left emphasized that “the government does not deliver certain things and there are no precise arrangements” regarding the issue raised.

Rafał Tomański was dismissed from his job after more than a year of cooperation with Radio Trójka. In an interview with Onet, the journalist stated that the reason for this decision were the topics he discussed in his programs that were inconvenient for the authorities. Tomański claims that a few days after the broadcast of the pre-election edition of “Breakfast in Trójce” he received an e-mail from the president of Polish Radio, Agnieszka Kamińska. The message was to contain detailed instructions regarding subsequent programs on the radio.

According to Tomański, Kamińska was to instruct him in detail on the issues discussed in the “Political Salon of Trójka”. She reportedly noted that the journalist’s first question “should concern the importance of a strong army and the perception of Poland in the world as a large, strong country that will soon – as announced by the President and the head of the Ministry of National Defense – have the strongest army in Europe.” Then the president of Polish Radio referred to the referendum.

“You don’t go to the referendum = you are in favor of working until you die”

“Encouraging and persuading people not to take part in the referendum is ANTI-DEMOCRATIC, ANTI-STATE AND ANTI-CITIZENSHIP,” Kamińska was said to have noted in the e-mail. “Taking part in the referendum is in the interest of every Pole. If you are NOT GOING, you answer ‘YES’ to each of these questions,” added Tomański’s superior.

However, this is not the end of the news reported by the fired journalist to Onet. Tomański points out that at the end Kamińska pointed out to him what not taking part in the referendum means. The e-mail allegedly included slogans such as: “You are not going to the referendum = you are in favor of working until you die”, “You are not going to the referendum = you are in favor of dismantling the barrier on the border with Belarus and letting in the Wagnerians”, “You are not going to the referendum = you are in favor of selling national wealth and working for foreign capital”, “You are not going to the referendum = you are in favor of letting hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants into Poland; in favor of making us afraid to go out on the street on Christmas or take out our smartphone in the subway “.

Rafał Tomański fired from Trójka

Rafał Tomański points out that he was soon removed from political programs. “The management made me understand that I was asking uncomfortable questions and it was received badly,” the journalist tells Onet. The last broadcast “The World to the Third”, hosted by Tomański, concerned, among others, corruption in Ukraine and the problem of migration in Sweden. In both cases, Tomański was told to “finish the uncomfortable topic” in the earpiece.

The journalist followed the publisher’s suggestion, but informed the listeners about it at the end of the program. “I wouldn’t be myself if I didn’t tell it like it is. On the one hand, I’m glad we could talk about Ukraine, but on the other hand, my publisher asked me to finish four times during this conversation,” he said on the air. On Monday, after the broadcast, Tomański was fired due to “exhaustion of the program’s formula.” “For me, this is an example of terrible villainy. I thought that things would finally be normal after the elections. Unfortunately, I was wrong. Nothing has changed, because there has been no change in management,” Tomański sums up. We asked the Polish Radio spokeswoman for a comment on the matter, but at the time of publication of the article we had not yet received a response.
