“My and Your Hope” was supposed to be the anthem of the first finale of WO¦P. It gained new meaning 4 years later

HEY was created in 1992 and successfully conquered the charts for the next 25 years. They have released 11 studio albums and several timeless hits that, despite the passage of time, are still popular among many generations. One of them is undoubtedly “My Hope and Yours”.

The idea for the song was born in 1992, when the group started working on their debut album. They wanted the words to be able to move and touch the heart. At that time, the band’s leader, Katarzyna Nosowska, was considered the absolute master of this type of texts and asked for help. After accepting the final version of the lyrical layer, Piotr Banach composed the melody. “Myself and Your Hope” was the first HEY that promoted their debut album “Fire”. The album appeared on the recording market in 1993, causing a spectacular sensation among listeners.

Interestingly, the song was not only supposed to be the group’s first single, but was also created for other reasons. Shortly after the premiere, the first finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity was planned. It was on the stage of this event that “My Hope and Yours” was heard live for the first time, as it was supposed to be a kind of anthem. – It didn’t become an anthem, but it was the first hit of the band HEY – Banach.

The song topped the charts for many years and was appreciated by listeners. However, it acquired a new meaning in July 1997. It was then that in Poland, as in other Central European countries, violent downpours led to the largest flood in history. Many cities were completely destroyed. The losses were estimated at a staggering amount of PLN 12 billion, and over PLN 40,000. citizens lost all their life’s work. In the face of the tragedy, the country began to unite. Fundraisers and numerous charity events were organized to help those who suffered the most. It was with the victims in mind that the “Telewidzowie-Powodzianom” fund was created, under which the album was released and the proceeds from its sale were donated to those in need.

One of the most important songs on the album was “Moja i dziennik” created for the campaign in a new, refreshed version. The greatest artists of Polish scenes performed alongside the musicians of the HEY band, including: Czesław Niemen, Grzegorz Markowski, Maryla Rodowicz, Edyta Bartosiewicz, Natalia Kukulska, Joanna Pyrkowska, Patrycja Kosiarkiewicz, Renata Dąbrowska and Ania Świątczak. All singers waived royalties and did not count on any success or gratification. However, the listeners were moved by such a solemn gesture. – It was an uprising of the entire nation. Back then, everyone wanted to help, Rodowicz said.
