She dreamed of becoming an actress and quickly won her first roles in films. She made her screen debut in 1989, playing in the film “The Extraordinary Truth”, but acting was not enough for her and she began to try her hand at directing. Her career was open to her. She wrote the script for the film “Waitress” and took part in many projects, but a tragedy occurred. On October 31, 2006, Shelly drove to her apartment in Manhattan’s West Village. She told her husband that she was going to work, but when she didn’t answer the phone, he started to worry. When Andy arrived, he found the door open and an uneasy silence. Adrienne was in the bathroom and everything indicated that she had hanged herself, which is what the police thought. Andy did not believe in suicide and started fighting for justice for his wife. The case started only when the homicide department took over the investigation. The police determined that the building was undergoing renovation, and a shoe print belonging to one of the builders, 19-year-old Diego Pillco, was discovered in Shelly’s apartment. The man admitted that the woman caught him stealing from her apartment. He wanted to silence her, but instead, he decided to make it look like a suicide. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
