He dreamed of a career as an athlete. Who did Marcin Dorociński want to become as a child?
Few know that before he discovered his passion and vocation for acting, he was fascinated by sport, to such an extent that he first wanted to become a volleyball player, and then he wanted a career in football. However, his plans were ruined when he suffered a serious knee injury. Even though he felt disappointed, he decided not to be devastated by the defeat. At one point, he planned to become a firefighter, but life verified his vision of the future. He went to an automotive technical school, and at the suggestion of his Polish teacher, he started attending workshops at the Machulski Theater Center. The new passion quickly became his life plan, but his old interests were not forgotten.
Szpakowski praised Dorociński’s play. Although more than 20 years have passed, the actor still remembers his words
His sports talent came to light in 1999 during a match between Polish and Italian teams. Olaf Lubaszenko was the leader of the Polish team, but it was Dorociński who was the biggest star of this match, because in the 74th minute he scored the goal that determined the victory. Recognized journalist and sports commentator, Dariusz Szpakowski, responsible for reporting on this event, did not spare him compliments. – During that match in 1999, it was nice to hear Mr. Dariusz Szpakowski say: “what a beautiful goal, maybe the coach would be interested” – Dorociński recalled proudly in .
Although he willingly took part in subsequent editions of this event, he admitted that an old injury made it difficult for him to train from time to time. In 2021, he even underwent surgery in the hope that it would allow him to become more involved in sports. Although he has regained fitness, he still cannot push himself. However, he does not lose hope and believes that one day he will return to the pitch. – I would like to play football again. After the surgery I had a year and a half ago, I had an osteotomy, the doctor cut my femur, cut out a piece, attached a plate and eight screws and said that I might go back to football, he said.
