A drag queen dreams of Holecka working on TVP. She personally submitted her CV to the office

Maciej Go¶niowski plays a drag queen nicknamed “Gąsiu”. In a pink suit and stunning makeup, he decided to go to the TVP headquarters at Woronicza Street and submit his CV. The artist would very much like to get the opportunity to host one of the two programs at the station, the current hosts of which may soon lose their jobs. In other countries, Gąsiu could even be welcomed with open arms in the public media.

Maciej “Gąsiu” Gośniowski is one of the leading representatives of Polish queer culture. He is a graduate of the State Theater School in Krakow and the Dance Theater Department in Bytom. During his career, he directed, among others: the play “Borderline Queen. Kerstas” at the National Theater in Vilnius or “Patriarchy Queen” in cooperation with the Komuna//Warszawa theater. He runs an Instagram account on a daily basis, where he recently published a very interesting video.

Drag queen wants to work at TVP. She is interested in running two programs

In the latest video we see him in the guise of a drag queen. Gąsiu with long blond hair, characteristic make-up and a pink suit arrived at the Polish Television building at ul. Woronicza in Warsaw to submit your CV there.

Elo! We are just in front of TVP, in front of Telewizja Publiczna and I don’t know if you remember, but I posted on my report ‘Can I submit my CV to TVP?’, to which they replied to me telling me to check the website, but there were no offers there, that would satisfy me. There was no replacement for Mrs. Ogórek or Mrs. Holecka, so I thought I would just come and submit my CV, because there will be changes soon – he began his recording.

Gąsiu then went inside the building, where he started a conversation with someone from the reception. He immediately announced the purpose of his visit and asked where he could submit his CV. – I would like to submit my CV here for the person running “Wiadomości” or “Pytanie na breakfast”. Where could I submit them? – He asked. A woman who probably works at the front desk responded. – There is a box in the office or here where you can send correspondence – said the woman.

Undeterred by the unenthusiastic response, he went to the above-mentioned office, where he also introduced himself and said why he came. – Good morning. My name is Gąsiu, I once wrote on Instagram that I would like to submit my CV to TVP and I would like to submit it here – he admitted.

At that moment it was also unknown who he was talking to, but in the background a woman could be heard saying mercilessly: “CV? Absolutely! Only and exclusively through the website.” Gąsiu then explained that there were no offers that interested him. In the end, however, the TVP employees gave up and stood next to the mailbox, saying:

It is true that it is written here that you should only submit your CV via the website, but there were no offers that interested me. I want to run ‘Wiadomości’ or ‘Question for breakfast’, so I’m posting it, maybe someone will read it. And that’s it. CV submitted! We’ll see what happens! Keep fingers crossed! – finished the recording.

This is unheard of in Poland, but abroad

We keep our fingers crossed for Gąś, but we are afraid that even after the planned changes, the new owners of Telewizja Polska will not be brave enough to entrust the running of the program to a drag queen. However, in Western Europe, different standards apply, and the representation of LGBTQ+ people is visible in both public and private media.

For example, in 2021, the British public radio station BBC Radio 1, which is addressed to young adults, organized “Drag Day”, during which all programs were co-hosted by three drag queens who are well-known in the UK throughout the day.

: “Our young listeners love drag culture, so we are proud to celebrate and showcase the best of British drag. It will be a day full of fun and entertainment, and a chance for our listeners to get to know a different side of these amazing drag queens.”

Moreover, in the schedule of the BBC Three television station, which is also addressed to young adults, we can find one of the currently most popular reality shows in the world, “RuPaul’s Drag Race UK”. The aim of the program is to select the most interesting and talented drag queen among the participants. In Poland, the first program of this type will debut at the beginning of next year on TVN. However, in “Drag Me Out” celebrities will play the role of drag queens.
