Barbara Stesłowicz is dead. The actress known from the play “The Taming of the Shrew” and the series “Four tank men and a dog” was 87 years old. Over the years, she has had many roles in film, theater and television.

Information about the actress’s death was announced via social media by the Association of Polish Stage Artists. “She was a distinguished member of ZASP, always helpful and committed to working for our Association. She will remain in our memory for a long time as an excellent artist and a wonderful woman,” we read in the entry.

Barbara Stesłowicz was born in 1936 in Lviv. In 1958, she made her debut on the stage. At the beginning of her career, she performed at the Lower Silesian Theater in Jelenia Góra-Wałbrzych, then she moved to the Theater. Osterwy in Gorzów Wielkopolski. In the early 1960s, she started working at the Rozmaitości Theater in Wrocław, and then she played on the stage of the Ludowy Theater in Krakow – Nowa Huta. Until 1976, you could watch performances with Stesłowicz at the Bagatela Theater in Krakow.

The artist died on October 24, 2023. The cause of the actress’s death was not announced. She left with many successes under her belt. In 1986, she received the Silver Cross of Merit, in 2008 – the Bronze Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis, and a year later the actress was awarded the “Honoris Gratia” Medal.

Barbara Stesłowicz, a theater, film and television actress, has passed away

Stesłowicz made her debut on the small screen in 1966. She then played an episodic role in the series “Czterej pancerni i pies”. In the same year, she also appeared in the cast of Leon Jeannot’s “Boomerang”, and then starred in Aleksander Ścibor-Rylski’s sensational psychological drama “The Murderer Leaves a Trace”. Stesłowicz’s next episode was in the film “Dulscy”. In 1977, she played the role of a witch in the television play “The Legend of Potiphar”, and a year earlier she played Flora Biggs in “Everybody Tells the Truth”.

She appeared in the casts of Polish films several times. At the end of the 1970s, she starred in “Wysokie Lote”, and Jan Budkiewicz invited her to “Pobojowiska”. The artist’s fans may also remember her from the role of Lecha in the TV show “Zmiana” or from the role of Notary in “In a Little House”. One of the last productions in which the actress starred was “The Taming of the Shrew” from 1993.
