Under the direction of Victor Acebedo, the play revolves around the elf Pepe, who represents the figure of an ‘adultized’ child, explains the director. “We seek to reflect on how adults delegate certain functions to children, trusting that they will have the capacity to fulfill them, but they cannot really handle it and they end up confusing them. That is why this elf develops anxiety, intolerance and above all he is very jealous of Santa Claus, so he wants to take his place ”.

Thus, different conflicts are being armed in the plot, which in parallel adds a situation of dispute between two dolls, one made of porcelain and the other made of cloth. “The porcelain one believes that it is prettier than the rag, the rag doll, on the other hand, feels discriminated against and begins to respond with violence,” adds the playwright.

The three characters realize that they begin to ‘lose your magic’, because how they act in ways reproachful (The goblin is obnoxious, the rag doll has low self-esteem and the porcelain doll is very capricious), they lose the positive qualities that others see in them. That’s why on stage there is a “magic machine” that is recharged with the applause of the children, who must intervene at this point, encourages Acebedo.

Two dolls, one made of porcelain and the other made of cloth, also fight over who is ‘the prettiest’ in ‘Let’s save Christmas’.

When the story seems to end, the director advances, Santa Claus appears to play a series of tricks on the ‘spoiled’ characters when he loses his memory in a kind of false ending.

Ultimately, Víctor Acebedo says, Save christmas “It is a reflection on the fact that at this time we look at values that have nothing to do with the meaning of Christmas, because ultimately the birth of the Child Jesus, which determines this date, has been transferred to characters about the that you have to have a distant look, that’s why we talk about them too ”.

The piece will celebrate two additional functions, Acebedo shares, at the MAAC at 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. “They are solidarity functions offering children from neighborhood institutions and schools that do not have the possibility of paying for a celebration with the children, with the support of a sponsoring company that is in charge of giving them sweets.”
