Pension indexation in 2024. This is known for sure
The indexation index depends on the annual inflation provided by the Central Statistical Office. The forecasts, like the draft budget bill submitted by the government, assume its amount. Mateusz Morawiecki’s government assumed that in 2024 benefits will be indexed by 12.3%. This is the minimum required by the regulations. However, the new government will have to submit a new draft budget. Assuming that the indicator will actually be 12.3 percent, the minimum pension from PLN 1,588.44 gross would increase to PLN 1,783.82 gross. This could also be the 13th pension. However, other amounts could be transferred to seniors’ accounts. What?

During the election campaign, Donald Tusk announced tax reform. It concerned, among others, increasing the tax-free amount from PLN 30,000 up to 60 thousand zloty. This change would be introduced within the first 100 days of the appointment of the new government, i.e. theoretically by March 2024. Pensioners receiving benefits of up to PLN 5,000 gross would also benefit from the increase in the tax-free amount. But that’s not all. – This may be a surprise for some voters, but the new government will pay the thirteenth salary in 2024, and what’s more, it will be the highest – emphasizes Dr. Antoni Kolek from the Pension Institute in “Fakt”. Until now, in fact, retirees received a pension minus health insurance premiums, and many of them also minus income tax of 12%.
After increasing the tax-free allowance, many seniors would not have to pay tax on the so-called thirteen. “Fakt” calculated what the 13th pension payments for seniors would look like after increasing the tax-free amount. It turns out that seniors receiving a pension of up to PLN 3,460 will be able to count on pensions of up to PLN 1,623.28. For many seniors, this means up to PLN 222 more in their account. In the case of retirees who currently receive PLN 1,800 gross, it will increase by PLN 155.
